Real Madrid Club de Fútbol

Real Madrid Club de Fútbol was officially founded on March 6, 1902, in Madrid, Spain. The club originated from a group of football enthusiasts led by Julien Palacios, who had previously established a modest football team known as *New Foot-Ball de Madrid* in late 1900. However, internal disagreements led to a split, and several members most notably the Padrós brothers, Juan and Carlos sought to create a more organized and ambitious football club.

On March 6, 1902, at a meeting held in the back room of the Al Capricho café in Madrid, the group formally established  Madrid Football Club  (the name "Real," meaning "Royal," would be granted later by King Alfonso XIII in 1920).  Juan Padrós  became the club’s first president.

The newly formed club quickly gained prominence in Spanish football. Real Madrid played its first official match on May 13, 1902, in the final of the Copa de la Coronación (a precursor to the Copa del Rey), though they lost 3–1 to FC Barcelona. Despite this early setback, the club laid the foundation for what would become one of the most successful and iconic football institutions in the world.

Real Madrid’s commitment to excellence, its royal patronage, and its strategic location in Spain’s capital helped it grow rapidly in stature. Over the decades, the club evolved into a global powerhouse, renowned for its legendary players, historic rivalries, and unparalleled success in domestic and international competitions especially the UEFA Champions League.
